That is great that you were able to refer them to someone else who could assist them. It sounds like you are refining your skill quite well! Your experience is an example of a win-win-win even in situations where you do not obtain the client- you connect the person with someone who can help them, the other business owner appreciates your referral and you feel good about your boundaries. That says alot about you, and I am a believer that people take notice of those things and you will also benefit from that decision in your circle of potential clients. I was just in a situation today where I had the choice to try to work with a non-ideal client or set boundaries and I ended up referring them on to someone else who think can better help.
